The Holy Spirit and You

It is expedient for you that I go away.
- Jesus

John 16:7c
Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.

Acts 2:16-18
16
No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17 “‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.
18 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.

John 3:34
For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God[i]gives the Spirit without limit.

Acts 8:14-17
14
When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to Samaria. 15 When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit,16 because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

  • Hindrance #2: Fear

Luke 11:11-13
11
“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for[ a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

Hindrance #3: Apathy
