OUR STORY

In 2010, a group of local believers, inspired by God’s work at Holy Trinity Brompton (London, England) and influenced by their experience with Alpha (a dinner party discussion group that provides individuals with the chance to explore life’s big questions) established Holy Trinity Church (HTC) in McLean, VA.

They held their first worship service in a local family’s basement at 10:10 on Sunday, October 10th, 2010. The founders chose the time and date on purpose to signify the life-verse of the congregation: John 10:10. In this verse, Jesus proclaims His mission, “I have come that they may have life, and have it in all its fullness.”

Today, the same desire to engage with God’s Spirit, learn from His word, and share meaningful relationships – that is, to live in Christ’s life in all of its fullness, guide the community onward.

A broad array of influences intertwine to make HTC a unique environment. Our services include liturgical elements that harken back to our Anglican roots. Yet, we are non-denominational and draw as heavily from contemporary praise & worship songs as we do from hymns. Some clap and raise their hands. Others enjoy in quiet reverence. We don’t see one expression of worship as better than another. We’re all just here to worship our God and Savior.

Located just outside the nation’s capital, HTC carries a heart for the greater Washington, D.C. area. Likewise, our passion for the nations is unmistakable. Our first two lead pastors were from the United Kingdom, and our current lead pastor, Brian Weaver, has served in ministry for more than 22 years, including leadership roles in the US, Tanzania, and Germany.

We embrace orthodox theology and practice our faith with grace toward others… and ourselves. We are multi-ethnic, multi-generational, and multi-socioeconomic.

Our hope is that everyone who encounters God through HTC, and its amazing people, experience the life Jesus promises in John 10:10.
