Christ’s Resurrection. Our Invitation. - Brian Weaver

Christ’s Resurrection. Our Invitation.

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

John 11:25-26 (NIV)

14 And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. 15 We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.

I Corinthians 15:14-17 (ESV)

20 But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead…

I Corinthians 15:20a (ESV)

Christ’s resurrection is our invitation to a new start.

Christ’s resurrection is our invitation to a new start.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.18 All this is from God…

2      Corinthians 5:17-18a (ESV)

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,

that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost,

but now I am found, twas blind but now I see.

Verse 1

~ John Newton

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed

~ John Newton

Christ’s Resurrection is our invitation to a living hope.

Christ’s Resurrection is our invitation to a living hope.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.

I Peter 1:3-4 (NIV)

“because you have made us and drawn us to yourself, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.”

~ St. Augustine

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. …. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.

I Thessalonians 3:12-14,18 (ESV)

Christ’s resurrection is our invitation to experience real life.

Christ’s resurrection is our invitation to experience real life.

John 10:10: The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. (ESV)

“The gospel is this: We are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dared believe, yet at the very same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope.” ~Tim Keller

You have an invitation to a new start.

You have an invitation to a living hope.

You have an invitation to experience real life.

So now what?

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

John 11:25-26 (NIV)

27 “Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”

John 11:27 (NIV)

“How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed”

Father, thank you that you sent your Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for the sins of the world, but also for my sins as well. I confess my sin to you today.  I also willingly admit my need for a savior.  I believe that you Jesus rose from the dead and my faith and hope are in you alone for salvation. I receive you into my heart as my Lord and Savior. Thank you that I am a new creation through the power of the resurrection. In Jesus Name!
