A Mind at Rest  - Brian weaver

…the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

 Romans 8:7b (NIV).

What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

Romans 7:24-25 (NIV)

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.

Romans 8:5-8 (NIV)

Our minds are ongoingly being renewed as we are in Christ and walk with His Spirit.

…but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.

Romans 8:5b (NIV)

Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.

Romans 8:8 (NIV)

The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God. (NIV)

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…

Romans 12:2a (NIV)

…the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. (ESV)

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

Colossians 3:1-3 (NIV)

Acknowledge that not every pattern or system of thought of yours is in alignment with Christ and Scripture.

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds…

 Ephesians 4:22 – 23 (NIV)

Ask the Holy Spirit to govern your mind.

Allow your thoughts to come in alignment with God’s Word and the ungodly beliefs to be renewed through the power of the Spirit.
