Meet Brian Weaver
BIOGRAPHY
Born and raised in a devout Christian home, Brian spent much of his childhood in Virginia and then upstate New York. From an early age, he experienced genuine hunger for God and solidified his commitment to follow Christ wholeheartedly at a teen summer camp. It was there that he began to sense a calling to ministry. In pursuit of that calling he entered Zion Bible College (now called Northpoint Bible College), graduating in 1996. He served briefly as an assistant pastor in Maine before taking a year to augment his education in Pensacola, Florida, where he met his future wife, Janine. In 1998, Brian moved to Tanzania, East Africa where, after language training, he started and pastored a Swahili-speaking, intercultural church in Moshi, Tanzania. He worked there for five years before he and Janine married. Together they worked for three additional years with a focus on pastoring, urban and rural church planting, leadership development, and evangelism. To organize this work, Brian founded and continues to serve as President of Brownsville International, a nonprofit organization and denomination based in Tanzania, and he maintains close ties with the otherwise entirely native leadership team.
In 2006, he and his family took a study sabbatical in Virginia Beach, Virginia where Brian attended Regent University. While completing his Master of Practical Theology Degree, he took a pastoral position with New Life Church, a large, multi-racial, intercultural, multi-campus congregation with a strong community presence in the Hampton Roads region. In this role, he carried responsibilities both as an assistant pastor and as staff member for New Life’s international network of affiliated churches. To continue the international vision, Brian founded Strategic Global Impact in 2008, a ministry committed to exalting Christ in the nations and advancing the Kingdom of God through church planting, evangelism, discipleship, and renewal. In 2011, God began to stir the Weavers’ hearts toward Europe and over the next few years confirmed the assignment on their lives: they were to move to Germany to spark a movement of multiplying churches, to empower a new generation of young ministers, and to share the Gospel with the unreached peoples of Western Europe. In 2014, Brian, along with his wife, led a small church through a renewal project, and together with that church, they launched New Life Church in the Frankfurt Am Main region of Germany. New Life Church Deutschland is a multi-site, intercultural, German-speaking congregation with a thriving focus on community life and an active program for training future church-planters to found and build new congregations. Brian is currently finishing a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership Program from Columbia International University (to defend in July 2021).
Brian’s highest joy is simply being a follower and worshiper of Jesus. He is thrilled by the chance to share in that pursuit at Holy Trinity Church and passionate about serving the community, connecting with its members, displaying the practical love of God, reaching the lost, and exalting Christ together. He enjoys spending time with his wife and kids – going for walks with his wife, playing games with his daughter, and watching his boys play rugby. He enjoys running, working out, loves drinking coffee with friends, hashing out ideas, and amazing conversations.
