Outreach Descriptions

Local Mission Sunday

  • April 6th, Sunday // 9am & 11am Service

  • HTC is a church on a mission, driven by our passion to serve the poor and spread the Gospel from our neighborhood to the nations. We are partnering with five incredible local ministries to build God's kingdom and act as His hands and feet.

During Local Mission Sunday, we will celebrate and highlight these ministries as they share the amazing work God is doing in our community, ways we can get involved, and how we can uplift them in prayer.

Local Mission Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to take your first step in serving our community—don’t miss it!

Prayer Evening

  • April 10th, Thursday // 7:30pm-8:45pm

  • Everyone (no childcare offered)

  • Join us as we embark on our 28-day “Love Your Neighbor” challenge by committing this time to God in prayer and worship.

We invite you to come together with us and pray for our community, asking God to intervene and break in with His light and salvation.

We believe that our prayers will pave the way, open hearts, and orchestrate divine appointments for the following weeks.

HTC - outreach tent

  • April 12th, Saturday // 11am-1.30pm

  • Volunteers: max. 6 people

  • The HTC Outreach Tent Ministry is back! This community-focused ministry engages with people through active outreach outside the church building. The ministry offers "Free Prayer" in busy public areas, which allows us to engage a wide range of individuals who are open to spiritual curiosity and prayer. During these interactions, we take the opportunity to share the hope of the Gospel and point people towards Jesus Christ.

Our approach is non-intrusive, and we invite people to receive prayer. While some may decline, many are open to it. Whether you are an introvert or extrovert, a new follower of Jesus, or a seasoned believer, everyone is welcome to join the Outreach Tent Ministry!

    Location: Founders Park, Alexandria.

Nursing home ministry with McLean Pres.

  • Volunteers: 4-6 people

  • Join us on April 19th as we embark on a mission to bring joy and compassion to the Arleigh Burke Pavilion retirement community in McLean. We will be partnering with McLean Presbyterian Church’s nursing home ministry. Together we will spent one hour with the residents, worship, share a gospel message, and pray for the people.

It's a unique opportunity for us to exhibit our love and kindness towards the elderly who often feel isolated and lonely. Let's make a positive difference in their lives and create lasting memories that will warm their hearts for years to come.

Your presence can have a meaningful impact. Spend time with these students and share about American culture and your beliefs. Keep in mind that 75% of foreign students never enter an American’s home during their time in our country. This is your moment to make a difference!

reset 180 : anti - human trafficking awareness evening

  • April 22nd, Tuesday // 7-8:30pm @HTC

  • Adults only

  • "Reset180” has been tirelessly combatting human trafficking in Northern Virginia for nearly 15 years, employing strategies such as raising awareness, prevention initiatives, local outreach efforts, and providing support to women seeking to escape the grips of sex slavery. Shockingly, a 2019 study revealed that Fairfax County alone harbored at least 85 brothels, served by 558 daily customers, with at least 170 individuals trapped in exploitative labor.

We invite you to join us this evening for an insightful discussion shedding light on the scourge of human trafficking in our community. Together, let's delve into the depths of this issue and explore how each of us can contribute to making a meaningful difference.

This is where Foster the Family DC comes in - with a carefully curated care bag filled with age and gender-appropriate items for the child, you can help bridge the gap and make a huge difference during this challenging time.

Don't wait - pack a care bag today and show your support for these deserving children!"

The bag's value is around $220. Pastor Darius will contact you to find out how many bags you plan on bagging and organize the drop-off.

The Lamb Homeless Center

Here’s the challenge: Let your wife clean out your closet! (You know she’s been wanting to!) Those extra shirts, jackets, and pants you haven’t worn in ages? They can bring hope and dignity to someone else.

Let’s come together as men of faith, leading with generosity and compassion. A simple act of cleaning out your closet can be a life-changing blessing for someone in need.

Please drop them off no later than May 4th.

Project Belong

Social Worker Care Baskets

  • Pack as many as you’d like.

  • Drop-Off: No later than May 4th

  • Every day, social workers stand in the gap for vulnerable children, carrying immense burdens as they fight for the well-being of those in foster care. Their work is hard. Their impact is life-changing. And they need our support.

We are partnering with Project Belong, an organization that inspires, recruits, and resources the local church to care for vulnerable children with the love of Christ. One way we can serve is by packing Care Bags for the social workers who tirelessly oversee these cases.

    Why Care Bags?
The turnover rate among social workers is high, and when workers leave, it can have dramatic effects on the children they serve. By providing thoughtful, encouraging Care Bags, we remind them that their work matters, that they are seen, and that they are deeply appreciated.
