Our Vision

To grow closer to God and encourage others to do the same.

These are our pillars

Our Values

HTC is a Christ-centered community, we are a safe place where people of all backgrounds and beliefs can gather to discuss Jesus and explore life.

Our vision is founded upon seven core values that we have called pillars.

Proverbs 9:1 – Wisdom has built her house she has set up its seven pillars.

Pillars of HTC

I. Worship

Our vision is to cultivate an expressive culture of true worship.

We believe that we were created to worship. We love to come into God’s presence and praise Him for everything that He is, and we want to share that joy with others.

We believe that music is a God-given gift that helps us to worship.

We are passionate about the transformative experience of God’s intimate presence that Spirit inspired music can help us to appreciate. We aim to enable those experiences for everyone who joins us in worship.

We also believe that intentionally taking time and making space to worship God is critical and that music is a powerful way to appreciate and focus on the truths of God’s grace and nearness. We believe that a common love for God can connect and unite a diverse group of people, churches and denominations, and we see worship as a way to forge those connections.

"...God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth."

John 4:24

II. Church Family

Our vision is that everyone of all ages and backgrounds feels at home at HTC and finds a place to belong and grow in Christ.

Welcome and warmth are key to our culture of authenticity and hospitality. We look to create a community where every member and every visitor knows and feels they are important. We rely on the participation of the whole church to intentionally engage with one another. HTC lives out what it means to be the family of God by building positive relationships, providing supporting through life’s challenges and celebrating life’s joys. We seek to continually encourage one another to grow closer to Christ.

"Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved."

Acts 2:46

III. Generosity

Our vision is to live generously as a community, giving away all that God has given to us.

We aim to keep the gospel as the main message at the heart of the church. We are conscious that our framing of the gospel should stay current and engaging, for all generations – with special emphasis on young people. We are a church focused on reaching the un-churched and de-churched. Each member of HTC should be equipped to reach out to people in their sphere of influence. As our community grows, we expect to plant new churches to expand our reach into neighboring communities.

"But since you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.”

2 Corinthians 8:7

V. Prayer

Our vision is that every member of HTC will grow in seeking and receiving from the Lord in prayer.

We will remain devoted to God in prayer, seeking Him for his will for HTC. We will continually pray for a profound sense of his grace and presence in the life of our church. Our expectation is that God will bring healing and transformation to body, mind and spirit. We also believe that through prayer we will see the renewal of our community, country and beyond. We are motivated to ensure that every facet of the church is founded securely in prayer.

"My house will be called a house of prayer..."

Matthew 21:13

VI. Teaching

Our vision is to inspire a hunger for and engagement with the Bible and ultimately with the way, the truth and the life.

We aim to continually draw each other back to the Bible, encouraging an engagement with the way, the truth and the life, and knowing more of the Lord and his voice. We seek to be inspired by the living Word. Biblical values are at our core. We read scripture together by the Holy Spirit, in the light of God’s grace, using exposition, humor and pertinent stories to illustrate how supremely relevant and applicable the Word of God is today.

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God...”

Matthew 4:4

VII. Community Outreach

Our vision is to love and bless those in need who are close to HTC, in the DC metro area and beyond to the rest of the world through partnerships with like minded and effective charities.

At HTC, worship is a way of life and will involve serving others, including the poor and the vulnerable. We believe that through reaching out and serving others we are serving the Lord. We want to be ‘good news’ and a blessing in every way to people from all walks of life. We especially want to be a blessing to the poor, lonely and marginalized, and to bring hope to the hopeless.

"...But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Acts 1:8
